In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” host Sheryl Glick welcomes Don Miguel Ruiz M.D. author of “The Four Agreements”, “The Mastery of Love”, “Beyond Fear”, “The Voice of Knowledge” and “The Fifth Agreement”. Don Miguel will bring the world the message of the Mayan Elders and will shed light on the phenomenon of the closing of the ancient Mayan calendar at an event he will be hosting from December 17 to December 21, 2012 at the Ancient Mayan Pyramids of Teotihuacan and Chitzen Itza featuring a sacred ceremony celebrating the four elements (wind, earth, fire, water) and the fifth (spirit). Don Ruiz and his family, along with Gabriel Nossovitch and Andres Portillo and other guests, will focus on releasing fear and the old paradigms to welcome the new world of truth and light…the moment of transformation revealing the long awaited message of the Mayan ancient shamans.
Sheryl Glick has been extremely aware of the many physical and spiritual changes occurring around the world and was most delighted in response to her prayers and meditations to have such a renowned holder of the Toltec wisdom of the Mayans, Don Miguel Ruiz contact her, and be available for this very special interview on “Healing from Within”. This show will be immediately available to the public on www.sherylglick.com on November 29th and on www.webtalkradio.net on December 17th as Don Miguel and Sheryl wish to reach as many people who seek the truth of who we are, what our physical and energetic life is about, and the possibilities of creating heaven on earth.
Don Miguel left his career as a medical doctor-surgeon, to carry on the family tradition teaching Toltec wisdom and assumed the mantle of nagual (shaman) translating and offering those ancient teachings to a worldwide audience. As a young boy Don Miguel’s grandfather told him the many stories of the Toltec Tradition, including the story of The Sleeping Giant, a symbol for an unaware humanity. Don Miguel was told that one day this giant will awaken in Mexico and awareness will spread throughout the world. Perhaps the time is now and we will share messages of the past in order to help our worldwide communities move into the future – a new era of hope and enlightenment.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” know, we encourage a higher and clearer view of events in today’s changing world by providing new perspectives from healers and leaders of past cultures and present philosophies including spiritualists, scientists, healers, shamans and medical professionals and leaders in the arts and music fields, hoping to merge the division between science and spirituality, which are not different at all and when combined will give us a truer, more accurate understanding of Universal Energy and our physical life. During a near death experience in 1970, Don Miguel’s life was forever changed and his spiritual gifts enhanced as well as the direction of his spiritual life being made clearer to him. As author of “The Four Agreements”, a book that stayed on the New York Time’s Best Selling List for seven years, Don Miguel gave the world a blueprint for improving the way for communicating with each other and for creating our best reality. Hard to believe that only four laws could do that much good for so many who have or will read it!
The first agreement is BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORDS- this suggests that we talk with a sense of integrity from our inner being without being influenced by the opinions and viewpoints of the outside world. In saying only what you mean, and meaning what you say, you must avoid using the word against yourself or in gossiping about others. Our words and actions should flow in a direction of oneness, unity and love. The second agreement is DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY- this suggests that nothing others do is because of you. What they do and say is a projection of their own reality, life plan or destiny as provided by spirit- their own dream. As you become immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. The third agreement is DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS- in finding the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want, communication is better and misunderstandings, sadness and drama are avoided. The fourth agreement is ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST- this suggests your best is going forward to moment to moment while avoiding self judgment, self abuse and regret. Doing your best means being completely present and focused on all your choices and interactions with others now without living in the past or worrying about the future.
Sheryl, as a Reiki Master Teacher, shares the five rules of the Ancient Japanese Healing System which aligned with the four agreements, sets up a plan or lifestyle for self improvement and self mastery of our actions and emotions. The five rules are, 1. Just for today, be slow to worry. 2. Just for today, be slow to anger. 3. Be kind to yourself and others. 4. Earn your living honestly, doing the best you can joyously with all tasks. 5. Show gratitude for everything and everyone.
Don Miguel tells a story of a man who was studying to be a medicine man who saw his own body sleeping. As he looked up at the moon and the clear sky with millions of stars, something happened inside of him that transformed his life forever. He looked at his hands and recognized “I am made of light; I am made of stars”. He also knew that everything is made of light and the space in between isn’t empty and that everything exists as Universal Energy. This energy is the messenger which contains all information, past and present. Life, therefore, is the force of the absolute or the Creator. Everything is connected to this one living being, or God. The physical world of illusion is like a dream or like smoke, which doesn’t allow us to see what we really are, for the real us is pure love, the energy of our soul.
What happens to the energy and love our children possess within? How do they lose sight of this wonderful connection to the Universal Source? When and how does the joy of childhood turn into the fears and limitations of our adult life? Don Miguel Ruiz explains the domestication process of children which is much like the way animals are domesticated using a reward and punishment system. The socialization process to become a member of society follows an outside reality rather than allowing each individual access to the internal wisdom that they are born with. This process of continuously being told by people in authority, “Don’t do this” or “Do that” often dampens the spirit or light of the soul. The children begin to lose sight of the powerful magnificent beings that they are and they lose trust in their own sense of self worth. Often they develop anger toward those who restrict their joyful creation and natural instincts.
This creates the growth of parasites or fears that infect us or damages us during the socialization process. We realize that the way back to peace, freedom, love and health, means the release of these unneeded impressions. We then can regain our lost energy and personal power and at the same time recognize that perfection in the physical world is an impossibility. By striving for perfection rather than our personal best, we take the joy out of daily experiences for ourselves and the people who we proclaim to love. I believe the awakening process, that is part of this new era or enlightenment, prophesized by the Mayans, includes a greater understanding of how we should treat our children and ourselves with greater self- love accepting change rather than fearing loss of control. Judgment and other negative emotions will no longer have a hold on us as we come to realize that life is but a dream of our own creation, or a nightmare of our separation from our inner wisdom.
The question is, what is Toltec Knowledge or the Toltec Tradition? Thousands of years ago, the Toltec were known throughout Southern Mexico as women and men of knowledge. Anthropologists have spoken of the Toltec as a nation or a race, but in fact, the Toltec were scientists and artists who formed a society to explore and preserve the spiritual knowledge about our connections to the energy of the Universe and as such were more aware of communication and guidance from Source or the Divine. Toltec knowledge arises from the same unity and truth as do all sacred esoteric traditions all around the world. Though Toltec tradition is not religion, it honors all the spiritual masters who have taught on the earth, always pointing to a way of life leading to happiness and love.
A beautiful description from Don Miguel’s book, “The Mastery of Love” reads as follows;
A Toltec is an artist of Love,
An artist of the Spirit,
Someone who is creating every moment.
Every second, the most beautiful art-
The art of Dreaming.
Life is nothing but a dream,
And if we are artists,
Then we can create our life with love,
And our dream becomes
A masterpiece of art.
Don Miguel suggests in his books and Sheryl concurs with his idea that the spirit of higher energy lives within each of us, and we are all Masters. As such we have the ability to create and rule our own lives. As societies and religions create incredible mythologies, so we create our own story. Our stories are populated by heroes and villains and multiple personalities. Before we are able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses and that of others, we must become artists of pretense. This is necessary in order to protect our fragile belief systems and our fears of losing control or making a mistake. The state of [DENIAL] that most people create is only necessary if one doesn’t know the truth of their eternal source of life. Needing the power to create and manifest a personal reality as we did when we were children, meant using emotions such as anger to push away a problem or wound. If our minds are filled with fear, much of the wounds we experienced in growing up to our skin, which you hear the children describe as “boo-boos” happen when we experience a physical hurt. Each physical hurt affects our emotional body WITHIN. Each miniscule hurt takes away a bit of the positive and spontaneous way we react to the joy in life. The eventual manifestation is a disease called “Fear” which presents to the outside world as; anger, hatred, sadness, envy and hypocrisy. All humans are mentally sick with the same disease…fear. That is the reason there is so much suffering as our inner image of ourselves often does not equate to the outer image or what the world expects of us. One reality is of the soul and the other of the ego or mind. Negative emotions for many of us became a habitual response to protect ourselves from being punished or not loved. Continuous practice in the same way made many of us masters of jealousy, sadness and self rejection creating unwanted drama and suffering. After a while, it is just by action, reaction, that we behave a certain way and that we lose the ability to be comfortable with our personal choices and so doubt rears its ugly head. By breaking down doubt and the denial system we have created out of fear, it becomes clear that everyone around us has emotional wounds with emotional poison. However… since love is a more desired state for health and happiness, those who free themselves of fear and begin to focus their thoughts, words and actions on becoming masters of love, Become Love and reflect the pure light of creation. Understanding people with compassion and love rather than using the denial system leads to a truthful view of what life should be about.
For those people who can overcome the wounds to their physical and emotional body, life becomes like a comedy, and music, smiles and happiness, become the way they walk through their days on earth. They are able to realize as they see humans suffering over things that aren’t even real that the power to create and manifest a beautiful, prosperous, healthy life is within their own reach. They now have the power to create a new beginning, a new source of positive energy, while the others who live in continuous fear of being hurt, continue to create a big drama wherever they go. As an awakened being responding to your own inner truth, making the choice to enjoy life rather than to find life hard, you can uncover your true inner nature freedom, self love and appreciating the gift of the human experience while moving into the New Age of Enlightenment.
